Shadowborn had its original brightness modifier removed due to the Developers wanting more control over the lighting conditions on the Maps. I see such a huge difference in speed, even if it is just an illusion, that I have grown addicted to it and feel like a snail when not using it. Whenever I use Shadowborn, I feel like going faster, despite this perk only increasing the field of view and nothing else. Is it real? No, it’s just a natural effect of changing fov in pretty much any game. Does FOV affect movement speed?ĭoes increasing FOV increase movement speed or does it just seem like it? If I set my FOV to something tiny like 50 I feel like a snail, but when I set it to the highest, 180, I feel like I’m going warp speed.
The lower the FOV is, the slower the movement feels, specially on First Person Shooters(or any First Person game in general) and Racing Videogames.
some games change fow for drama, making this apparent. lower fow has illusion of faster movement. Higher FoV allows me to be better at close range but most importantly allows me not to have headaches after 15 minutes. It improves your characters peripheral vision, which in return gives you an advantage over players with 65. It actually has to do with the distance from the screen.
The performance isn’t the main reason, it’s because the player is sitting further back compared to a PC users distance from the monitor.
